Storytelling Tips for Sharing Your Sacred Moment

Inspire others and make unexpected connections

Tips to tell your story with vibrance

  • Set the Scene

Provide some context for the readers or listeners. Think of some basic details such as who you are, where the moment occurred, how you were feeling just before, what you were doing, and who was present. Use the first-person format with “I” and “me.”

  • Describe the Moment

Take the audience back to the sacred moment experience and tell us all about it. Try to describe it in terms of your senses if you can: These details may include how you felt, what you saw, what you heard, what you smelled or tasted, and what was said (or perhaps what was not said but rather conveyed through nonverbal communication or a shared feeling).

  • Share the Impact

Tell the reader or listener how the sacred moment experience affected you, why and how it was meaningful, why it is held in your heart, and how it changed your life, your perspective, or your way of being.

  • Provide a Visual

We invite you to include a suggested title for your story as well as a photograph. This photo may include yourself, the person with whom you shared the sacred moment, or both. Instead of a photo, perhaps you might like to share an artifact (like a note or a drawing) that reflects your sacred moment story.
